Dario’s Story: A Magical Disney Wish That Created Lasting Joy
Dario was one of the very first families served through The EveryWish Initiative’s Dare to Dream program, and his story continues to shape our mission today.
Through a special partnership with Disney and Give Kids the World, The EveryWish Foundation helps provide unforgettable trips for children battling cancer and rare blood disorders. These experiences give children and their families something they desperately need during treatment—moments of joy, escape, and the chance to simply be kids again.
For Dario, that wish became a magical Disney experience.
With travel, lodging, and most expenses covered, Dario and his parents were able to visit Disney, where he became the star of his own story. At Magic Kingdom, Dario rode rides, met beloved Disney characters, and experienced days filled with laughter, wonder, and excitement.
More importantly, for a brief moment in time, Dario was able to step away from the weight of illness.
He wasn’t just a child fighting cancer—he was a kid having fun, making memories, and living fully in the moment.
These experiences are more than trips. They are opportunities for families to reconnect, to breathe, and to create memories that last far beyond the journey itself.
Dario’s impact on The EveryWish Foundation runs deep. His experience helped shape and strengthen our Disney wish program, allowing us to continue providing similar opportunities for countless other children facing critical illnesses.
Tragically, after a courageous battle, Dario passed away.
Today, his legacy lives on in a powerful way.
His mother, Abril, now serves on The EveryWish Foundation’s advisory board, offering invaluable insight from both a parent’s perspective and as someone who walked the difficult journey of fighting alongside her child. Her voice continues to guide and strengthen our mission to serve families facing the unimaginable.
At The EveryWish Initiative, stories like Dario’s remind us why these moments matter.
Because sometimes, the greatest gift we can give is simple:
the chance for a child to feel joy, freedom, and magic—even if just for a little while.
